So, why a Rush?

A very good question! After wanting a kit for many years, I finally started building a Tiger Cat E1 in April 1999, the build diary of which is here. I chose it as at the time, I was building to a fairly strict budget of about 4000, and it was the only 'serious' seven that was feasible. Coincidentally, at the same time, Duncan started building a V8 Rush...

The Tiger was completed in April 2000, and I clocked up 2500 miles over the summer. However, what was I to do over winter this year? There were two options - either upgrade the Cat engine to something like a Toyota twincam, or start totally from scratch with a new kit. Hmm. Strangely, it was the petrol crisis that decided me, as I have always wanted a V8 engined something, and it started to look increasingly like there were going to be serious issues with owning a "gas guzzler" in the future, so the sooner the better.

The fact that a friend also decided to build a Rush (albeit a 2.0 Zetec) sealed my fate, as I couldn't resist placing an order at the same time...

So, it's as simple as that. Now, to see what it's like to build. Oh, and the colour scheme for this page is because I decided (eventually!) to order the GRP in crimson, along with chromed rollbar and suspension.
